Welcome to GRYMTTRS!

A little about me, this project, and what the future holds.

Welcome to my passion project. Grey Matters Media (GRYMTTRS for short) is a project and idea that has been bouncing around my head for nearly a decade. I’ve spent the majority of my career behind a keyboard – designing brands for small businesses, creating marketing collateral, and nerding out in coding languages. While there’s an opportunity and outlet for creativity there, I always found myself wanting…more. GRYMTTRS is that more.

I was born in Bakersfield, CA and spent much of my young life in West Texas. I developed the travel bug pretty early on, and was around the photography of family (mainly my dad) and friends all my life. It’s in those photos that I’m transported back to places and memories that would otherwise be lost to time. Over the last several years, I found joy and inspiration in my own photography, hoping to capture some of those same moments of my own.

A little about the name: I’ve always been a bit of a rebel. I was never very good at fitting in the pre-composed boxes that people had for me, whether that be culturally, intellectually, spiritually, etc. In between the black and white absolutes lived a world of shades of grey that drew me in – the unanswered questions, the outsiders, the viewpoints and angles that people know exist but are often too apprehensive to explore.

It sounds a bit heavy, but it really just comes down to one simple concept – we are all unique. We all have a story to tell, and every perspective and every angle is new and uncharted. So let’s get exploring.

GRYMTTRS is my opportunity to step out from behind the keyboard where I live most of my life, and into the world of unique perspectives and myriad colors. The business side of this is a work in progress. While I enjoy and have spent the majority of my time thus far in the landscape/cityscape photography world, my hope is to expand this work into many other arenas. At the end of the day, I want to create work that inspires others.

Thank you for coming along this journey with me.
